I use this hardwood undercut rib tool on larger pots... pots more than 3-lbs. As I'm shaping and finishing a large pot, this longer rib tool provides a wider contact area on the thrown surface. It also provides a longer reach allowing me to undercut a bevel at the foot of a large wide bowl or platter form... one with a lot of overhanging shape.
